Things To Do Besides The Beach Near Siesta Key
Everyone comes to Siesta Key for the beach — and for good reason — but many guests at Trish’s Beach Retreat are surprised by how much there is to do nearby once they get here. Whether you want to stay active, explore, shop, or just try something different for a day, there are plenty of options within a short drive.
Here are some of our favorite ways guests like to mix up their vacation days.
Golf Days
Many visitors like to plan at least one golf outing during their stay. The area has multiple scenic courses where you can enjoy warm weather, palm trees, and wide open fairways. It’s a great way to spend a morning before heading back for an afternoon swim or sunset walk on the beach.
Spring Training Baseball
If you’re visiting in early spring, Spring Training is a must-do experience. Several Major League Baseball teams play nearby, giving you the chance to catch a game in a relaxed, fan-friendly setting. It’s an easy and fun way to spend an afternoon or evening and a great addition to your beach vacation.
Shopping & Village Exploring
Siesta Key Village and the surrounding Sarasota area are full of small shops, local boutiques, and ice cream stops. It’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening stroll when you want a break from the sun but still want to be out and about.
Dining Experiences
Trying local restaurants becomes part of the vacation itself. From casual seafood spots to waterfront dining and family-friendly pizza places, many guests end up planning their days around where they want dinner that night.

Boat Tours & Water Activities
If you love the water but want a different perspective than the shoreline, boat tours, dolphin cruises, kayaking, and paddle boarding are popular choices. You’ll often see wildlife and parts of the coast you wouldn’t otherwise experience.

Nature & Walking Trails
Nearby parks and nature areas give you a peaceful change of pace. Walking trails, shaded paths, and wildlife viewing offer a relaxing morning before the beach or a quiet break after a busy day.

Museums & Indoor Activities
For hotter afternoons or occasional rainy days, the Sarasota area has several museums, aquariums, and indoor attractions that families enjoy. It’s nice knowing your vacation plans don’t depend entirely on the weather.
A Balanced Vacation
Many guests tell us their favorite trips aren’t just beach days — they’re a mix of beach mornings, exploring afternoons, and relaxed evenings. Having options nearby helps everyone in the group enjoy the trip, even if not everyone wants to sit in the sand all day.
When you stay here, you’re not limited to one kind of vacation. You can do as much — or as little — as you want, and that’s what makes people return year after year.
