Our Trip to North Jetty Beach Park: Coastal Charm & Sunset Magic on Casey Key

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of nature, adventure, and relaxation near Sarasota, a day trip to North Jetty Beach Park on Casey Key delivers it all. Nestled in Nokomis, just 30–40 minutes from Siesta Key and downtown Sarasota, this scenic spot offers one of the most unique beach experiences on Florida’s Gulf Coast. With its wide sandy shoreline, active boat traffic, fantastic wildlife viewing, and breathtaking sunsets, North Jetty is a favorite among locals—and a hidden gem for vacationers.

Our Favorite Jetty Getaway

We’ve made several trips to North Jetty Beach—it’s the beach we visit most after Siesta Key. Our kids and grandkids love it for the fishing, and we love it for the peaceful beach vibe. Whether they’re casting a line off the jetty or splashing in the waves, everyone leaves happy.

The beach here is wide and uncrowded, with soft white sand ideal for a stroll or a little shell hunting. But the standout feature is the jetty itself—a long rock barrier stretching into the Gulf of Mexico, guiding boats through Venice Inlet. It’s a perfect perch for watching everything from fishing boats to sailboats and luxury yachts cruise by—surprisingly calming and endlessly entertaining.

A Paradise for Fishing & Wildlife

If you love fishing, bring your gear—or stop by the nearby bait and snack shop. This is one of the best shore-based fishing spots in the area, especially for catching snapper, sheepshead, or snook—no boat required.

Wildlife lovers will also feel right at home here. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, ospreys, pelicans, great egrets, and even the occasional manatee drifting through the inlet.

Sunset Magic on the Jetty

North Jetty truly comes alive at golden hour. As the sun sinks into the Gulf, grab a seat on the rocks or spread out a blanket in the sand. The sunsets here are postcard-perfect, with fiery hues lighting up the sky and shimmering on the water. Boaters often anchor offshore just to take in the view—it’s a full-circle Florida coastal moment.

Trip Tips:

  • 🚗 Arrive early for the best parking and picnic spots

  • 🔭 Bring binoculars or a zoom lens for wildlife watching

  • 🧴 Pack sunscreen, bug spray, towels, and plenty of water—especially in summer

  • 🚿 Restrooms and outdoor showers are available

  • 💵 No admission fee—just sun, sand, and serenity

🏖️ Why We Love It

North Jetty Beach Park captures the charm of Old Florida with all the conveniences of a modern beach park. Whether you’re planning a lazy day of sunbathing, itching to fish, or simply want to people-watch and enjoy the views, this spot has it all—without the crowds or commercial vibe of the bigger beaches.

It’s one of those rare places where time slows down, and you remember exactly why you came to Florida in the first place.
