🏰 A Day of Adventure at the Sarasota Medieval Fair
Every fall, Sarasota transforms into a lively medieval village full of knights, jesters, and music at the Sarasota Medieval Fair — and we recently had an amazing day exploring it with our son Daylon!
Just a short drive from Trish’s Beach Retreat, the fair is held outdoors under the shady oak trees at the Woods of Mallaranny. It’s the perfect blend of history, laughter, and Florida sunshine — truly a one-of-a-kind Sarasota experience.
⚔️ Knights, Jousting & Laughter
The highlight of the day was definitely the live jousting tournament — complete with galloping horses, cheering crowds, and knights in shining armor. Daylon loved watching the knights charge at each other and trying to guess who would win each match!
Between shows, we wandered through the artisan marketplace, where blacksmiths, glassblowers, and crafters showed off their medieval skills. The fair has such a fun, festive atmosphere — full of music, laughter, and color everywhere you look.
And of course, we couldn’t resist the classic fair food! From giant turkey legs to warm pretzels and sweet treats, there was plenty to enjoy.

The Sarasota Medieval Fair is a great family outing for anyone staying in the area during November or early December. There’s something for all ages — kids love the costumes, games, and jousting, while adults enjoy browsing handmade gifts, sipping mead, and enjoying live performances.
It’s one of those unique Sarasota traditions that makes fall here extra special.
🌴 The Perfect Sarasota Day
We love that the fair is just about a 30-minute drive from Trish’s Beach Retreat, which makes it easy to spend the morning relaxing on Siesta Key Beach and then head to the fair for an afternoon of fun.
By the end of the day, we were happily tired — a little sun, a lot of laughter, and some wonderful memories made with Daylon.
